Mae Klang Waterfall, Doi Inthanon

Mae Klang waterfall is one of the many waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park and is well worth the short stop over to visit these impressive falls.

Requiring only a short walk to reach them, the waterfall is easily accessible for all.

Whilst you’re visiting the waterfalls, there is a small community that lives on the river and offers something different to see whilst you’re on a small adventure in Doi Inthanon National Park.

How to get to the Mae Klang Waterfall, Doi Inthanon

Located in the beautiful Doi Inthanon National Park, home of Thailand’s tallest mountain. Mae Klang waterfall is an impressive waterfall that doesn’t seem to attract many tourists, and I am not too sure why not.

It is around a 90-minute drive from Chiang Mai. I spent a whole day on the scooter exploring Doi Inthanon and made it to multiple waterfalls across the day.

The drive through the wonderful National Park is beautiful, and I’d strongly suggest hiring a scooter in Chiang Mai and adventuring for yourself.

The roads through the National Park are beautiful and make driving through them much more fun. If you’re new to riding a scooter, just make sure you take your time and go at your own pace.

You’ll pass through small villages, rice terraces, and some of the most scenic backdrops Thailand offers!

My Experience of Mae Klang, Doi Inthanon

You’ll arrive in a small village to get to this waterfall. There are plenty of stalls, and places to eat if you need something to eat or drink!

Alongside the river, there are small houses and dwellings where people live and make their living from. If you’re wanting coffee or some food, I’d strongly recommend visiting here!

The walk up to the Mae Klang waterfall is fairly straightforward and easy. You’ll pass through the National Park barrier and then it’s just one straight road through to the base of the falls.

There’s a small viewing platform to sit and enjoy the waterfalls from.

Alongside the viewing platform, there is a small trail that takes up to the top of the waterfalls. Unfortunately, it’s a little overgrown and there’s not too much to see when you get to the top. Worth doing if you want to get some extra steps in but don’t expect an incredible view from there.
