How to get to the Mannen Hike

If you park at the beach, the mountain you see in front of you as you drive in is Mannen.

Prominent but not too tall. It’s an impressive mountain to look at, and an impressive mountain to summit too.

The trail starts up the road on the opposite side of the parking and then follows the road before turning off before the lake.

When you find the trail before the lake, it’s fairly straightforward from here on out and it leads you all the way to the summit.

As I mentioned previously, if you stick away from the left side as you’re walking up you can limit the exposure, but if you’re not bad with heights, it’s an awesome ridgeline to follow.

The route follows the same way back once you’ve reached the summit.

My Experience of the Mannen Hike

Originally not on my list as I have visited before, but when the sun shines in the Lofoten, you have to make the most of it and get out there to a summit.

Luckily for me, I chose the nearby summit of Mannen which is a short distance from Offersoykammen.

When I woke up and was heading back to Svolvaer to get some work done for the weekend, the weather gods had blessed me and I had to take advantage.

Knowing that Mannen was a short and easy hike, it was an absolute no-brainer to add it to the morning activities.

The hike itself is easy, and not too challenging. The ridge offers some decent exposure to heights, but it’s easy to get away from it should you need to.

Despite the hike not being too challenging, in true Lofoten fashion, the rewards are nothing but incredible.

Views over Himmeltinden, the highest mountain in the Lofoten, and over Haukland beach are insane to see a 1000m summit and then the white sand of Haukland.

Definitely worth a short trip to see the beach, and if the weather is good it’s easy to bag Mannen.
