Tuesday 15th January, 2019. We will get to the caving shortly but yeah, we went caving and it was terrifying. First stop of the morning was fuel, a few pit stops and straight on the road heading for Arthur’s pass. An alpine highway that cuts through the South Island from West to east or east […]

Heli-Hiking the Fox Glacier!
Monday 14th January, 2019. Yesterday (Sunday) was a bad day. A combination of illness and torrential rain wrote the day off for us. We managed an 1 and a half trail walk in the morning then the rest of the day was done. We spent probably what was a well earned rest day in the […]
We finally saw the breathtaking Mount Cook!
Saturday 12th January, 2019. The morning started late with a lie in and some breakfast in Haast. I had an awful night sleep with what felt like the flu but was most likely heatstroke from the pervious day. We got on the road and headed towards Jackson bay. A 100km round trip there and back […]
Hiking Roys Peak, New Zealand.
Friday 11th January, 2019. After yesterday’s early morning rain we were determined to get up early and get some clear skies so that we could hike Roy’s peak. 330AM our alarms went off to no sound of rain, only stars in the sky, winner! Eagerly awake and ready for the hike ahead to got up, […]
Waterfalls, mirror lakes and beautiful rainforest trails.
Thursday 10th January, 2019. Today we had our alarms set for 330AM ready for a hike up Roy’s peak. Hoping to 1/ catch a sunrise and 2/ miss the crowds of people expected to be doing the same. We woke up at 330AM to the sound of that dreaded alarm and heavy rain on top of […]
The lonely tree… whose brother is in Llanberis!
We left from Kawaru historic bridge site where we camped the night for Wanaka, not too far away about an hour.
A full day of adventure… and sun!
The same as every morning I woke up and started opening the little roof vent above our bed. To our surprise it was the bluest sky we have seen so far. Winner!
Milford sound, no words needed
We set our alarms early, got up made coffee and got on the road before 7AM. We had a long drive ahead of us and wanted to get into Milford sound as early as we could.
We made it to Queenstown!
This morning started with the usual van life duties. More waste dumping and topping up with fresh water. Unfortunately it was cloudy and wet this morning so couldn’t see our supposedly lakeside view.
19200km away from home!
Our day started early with a drive over to Cathedral cove/cave which is a huge cave system on one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Another stunning rainforest track down to the beach and then inside the gigantic cave that is cathedral cove.
